Quilts as a Metaphor for Life

1. You have to take a risk to make something happen.
2. There can be lots of false starts.
3. Mistakes are inevitable.
4. Mistakes are an opportunity to learn.
5. Most of the time, no one will know about the mistake unless you point it out.
6. Patience and persistance pay off.
7. You never know what you can accomplish if you believe in yourself.

These are my deep thoughts for the day! (quilt is called "Square Dance". It is a full size quilt made for my mother-in-law. Am almost done with next one...but shhhhh! Its a secret!

Six Unspectacular Quirks

Hello everyone. I'm sorry it has taken so long to post. We had computer problems and I lost alot of important saved addresses, including the administrative page to my previous wordy blog site. Oh well, it was $5 a month and this is free. The new frugality is upon us. Its late, so I'll try to beautify this site another day. Have really been enjoying reading about the six unspectacular quirks of my family. So funny! Its amazing what we don't know about each other sometimes.

My six unspectacular quirks...

1. I have a a tightly wired nervous system. If you startle me, you will hear a blood curdling scream that sounds like it came out of horror movie. Staff people at work have started to call my name softly before they enter my office to try to prevent this!

2. I can't be neat. I really can't. I've tried and tried and tried and I'm embarrrassed about it, but I just can't seem to put things away in the same place for more than 2 times in a row. This is the opposite of my husband, but he is he pretty understanding most of the time.

3. I like to read in the bathtub for long lengths of time and my magazines and books get all wet and wrinkled.

4. I don't sleep well and never have. (See number 1)

5. I thought writing my master's thesis was fun.

6. It never occurs to me that I might fail at something until I do. (I think this is inherited from my dad). I've gotten into a few pickles due to this trait. Likewise, I tend to always think the best about people and it will really surprize me when I find out my patients are addicts, criminals, prescriptions forgers, etc.

That's it. According to my Myers Briggs personality test, I have an unusal personality type shared by only 1% of the population, so probably the truth is that quirkiness, in general, is my normal. Will write more soon.
